An Easy Way to Write:
A great alternative to snail mail is using DearElder.com - a website that will allow you to type and sumbit your letter, which they print and deliver to the Provo MTC for free. It is free to sign up, free to the MTC and charges no handling fees. For delivery to Taiwan, DearElder.com charges the standard postage rate. For some it is easier to type a letter and hit send than to write it by hand, find a stamp and take it to the mail box or post office.

International postage to Taiwan is:
98 cents for a letter under one ounce
$1.76 for under 2 ounces
$2.54 for under 3
dimensions:
length: 5-1/2 inches - 11-1/2 inches
height 3-1/2 inches - 6-1/8 inches
thickness 0.007 inch - 1/4 inch

The recommended (cheapest) way to send packages is through a US Postal Service Priority International Flat Rate envelope or box.
Envelope: <4 pounds, costs $12
Box: <20 pounds costs $37

Other international package guidelines:
Don't mark contents as food
Don't send meat products including jerky
Keep the value of the package under $50
Mark the contents as "gift" or "missionary supplies" to avoid problems at customs
Do not use UPS, Federal Express, DHL, etc.
